Who are Medical Assistants (MAs)?

Medical Assistants (MAs) are multi-skilled personnel who provide both clinical and administrative support in a variety of different healthcare settings. They work directly with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare staff to ensure that patients’ needs are met both medically and administratively. They may perform basic patient care tasks including taking
vital signs, preparing treatment rooms, assisting with examinations or procedures, taking medical histories, making appointments, filing records, and entering data into electronic patient databases.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment for medical assistants is projected to grow 23 percent from 2019 to 2029, much faster than the average for all occupations. With Baby Boomers aging and living longer than ever before, more healthcare professionals are needed to handle their increasing needs. This means that medical assistants will have more opportunities than ever before and will be able to specialize in a variety of areas such as geriatrics, pediatrics, and family medicine.
In our comprehensive online medical assistant certification course, you will acquire a wide range of skills that make medical assistants highly versatile and valuable team members. Topics covered include medical terminology, medical law and ethics, HIPAA regulations, scheduling systems, and the pivotal role of certified clinical medical assistants in healthcare teams. You will be well-prepared to handle responsibilities both in the front office and the back office. These duties encompass vital sign measurement, exam assistance, laboratory testing, equipment and supply maintenance, injection administration, blood specimen collection, appointment scheduling, patient registration, and managing phone communications.
Your medical assistant training will also encompass the acquisition of medical terminology knowledge and its practical application. The curriculum begins with an exploration of the origins of medical terminology and the recognition of prefixes and suffixes used in medical language. Subsequently, you will delve into the structure of the human body, differentiating between cells, tissues, organs, systems, and cavities. You will also gain the ability to define and describe the functions of each body system, a skill that will be invaluable as you progress in your medical career or education.
Included in this MA certification course, is a paid voucher that covers the certification exam fee, CPR certification, HIPPA and OSHA certification, and guaranteed unpaid clinical experience in New Orleans. Completion of this course will position you as a well-prepared candidate sought after by employers who recognize the value of certified medical assistants.
