What Is PACE?
The Professional Advance Career Education (PACE)
The Certification Program provides an online medical
assistant diploma that is designed to give students a
comprehensive understanding of the field and equip
them with the skills needed to succeed as a medical
assistant. The program runs for 12 months whether
full-time or slightly longer if part-time and comprises
both theoretical and practical coursework. It includes
topics such as human anatomy and physiology, medical
terminology, laboratory procedures, pharmacology,
surgical technology, clinical skills practice, etc. The
curriculum is designed to stimulate students’ awareness
of, motivation for, and commitment to the need for
continuing education to achieve and maintain
competency in the field.

Who are Medical Assistants (MAs)?
Medical Assistants (MAs) are multi-skilled personnel who provide both clinical and administrative support in a variety of different healthcare settings. They work directly with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare staff to ensure that patients’ needs are met both medically and administratively. They may perform basic patient care tasks including taking
vital signs, preparing treatment rooms, assisting with examinations or procedures, taking medical histories, making appointments, filing records, and entering data into electronic patient databases.

Admission Requirement
To enroll in the PACE Certification Program, a student must have
- High school cumulative GPA of 2.0 (on a 4.0 scale) or GED AND a minimum ACT score of 20 or minimum SAT score of 1000 or
- High school cumulative GPA of 2.0 (on a 4.0 scale) or GED AND 12 or more earned college credits with a 2.0 cumulative GPA or
- High school cumulative GPA of 2.0 (on a 4.0 scale) or GED AND greater than 70%
on the basic Unimed Academy competency test.
Students must abide by the following requirements to be accepted and remain in the Medical Assistant PACE Certification (PACE) Program :
- Demonstrate reading/comprehension and math proficiency.
- Upload a copy of your high school transcript or GED score report.
- Submit all official transcripts from previously attended colleges/universities.
- Complete the required writing sample in the PACE Student Application Packet.
