Unimed Academy’s story is one of vision and dedication, rooted in a deep commitment to healthcare education and community service. In 2023, this remarkable journey began with the shared vision of two forward-thinking physicians, Dr. Princess Dennar and Dr. Darlonda Harris. Our founders embarked on this mission with dual-core goals. First, they sought to create pathways for underrepresented minorities to engage meaningfully in the medical field, breaking down barriers and fostering inclusivity. Second, they aimed to cultivate healthcare practitioners who would excel across diverse healthcare environments and extend healthcare education to the broader community, promoting health literacy.
Visionary Founders Pioneering Excellence
Dr. Princess Dennar and Dr. Darlonda Harris, the visionary founders of Unimed Academy, bring a wealth of experience, expertise, and leadership to our institution. Their combined Medicine-Pediatric residency training at Beth Israel Medical Center in Newark, New Jersey, and Tulane University School of Medicine has equipped them with a deep understanding of healthcare. Dr. Dennar’s extensive 13-year tenure as the Program Director for a Medicine-Pediatrics Residency Program, and Dr. Harris’ noteworthy years of mentoring a diverse range of healthcare professionals, demonstrates their dedication to upholding the most rigorous standards in medical education.
Dr. Dennar and Dr. Harris each own thriving private medical practices and have successfully launched and managed additional ventures. Their unwavering commitment, exceptional educational backgrounds, leadership experiences, and active community involvement in Louisiana and nationally, position them perfectly to steer Unimed Academy towards ongoing achievements.
